Plan Friendsgiving with one link.
Friendsgiving is about connection, not cutlery. Send one invitation, see who is coming, ask what everyone is bringing, and keep the headcount to the chairs you have. Guests RSVP from their phones with no account.

What one link takes care of.
Invitation and RSVP
Send one private link by text or email. Guests answer on their phones, with no account to make.
Headcount
See who is confirmed and who is bringing a plus-one, so you know how much turkey to buy.
Dietary notes
Every RSVP can include allergies and dietary needs, so you can plan the table without chasing people.
"What are you bringing?"
Add a drop-down question with choices like drinks, sides, salads and dessert. The answers show up on your guest list, so you can spot the missing pie.
Seat limit and waitlist
Set the number of chairs. When the party is full, new guests join a waitlist, and a cancellation offers the seat to the next person, who has two hours to claim it.
Reminders
Cheers! reminds guests a week before and the day before, with a cancel link in case plans change. Tag the party Potluck or BYOB so expectations are clear.
A 10-day Friendsgiving timeline.
Thanksgiving 2026 is Thursday, November 26. Most Friendsgivings land the weekend before, so these dates count back from Saturday, November 21. Shift them to match your day.
- 10 days out · Wed, Nov 11
Pick the date and the number of chairs
Decide how many people fit around your table. Create the event, set the seats, add a "What are you bringing?" question, and send the link.
- 7 days out · Sat, Nov 14
Check who has answered
Cheers! sends the one-week reminder to guests who said yes. Nudge anyone who has not replied, and look at the dish list for gaps.
- 5 days out · Mon, Nov 16
Fill the gaps and read the notes
No dessert yet? Ask a friend to take it. Check the dietary notes so the table has something for everyone.
- 3 days out · Wed, Nov 18
Plan your own dish and shop
Choose what you are cooking, usually the main. Borrow a folding chair or two. If someone cancels, the waitlist offers their seat on its own.
- 2 days out · Thu, Nov 19
Sort the oven and the drinks
Plan what needs the oven and when, since guests will bring dishes that need reheating. Set up a spot for drinks and a place for coats.
- 1 day out · Fri, Nov 20
Prep and set the table
Cheers! sends the day-before reminder. Use the plates you have, mismatched is fine. Put out a few cards or a sticky note for dish names.
- Party day · Sat, Nov 21
Check the list and enjoy it
Open the guest list on your phone for the final headcount and any dietary notes. Then put the phone down and sit with your people.
Easy ideas that keep it about the people.
You do the main, they do the rest
Roast the turkey, or a few chicken thighs. Ask guests to cover sides, salads, drinks and dessert.
Use what you already own
Mismatched plates and a borrowed chair are part of the charm. Nobody remembers the tablescape. They remember the laughing.
Ask for one dish and one story
Invite each guest to share something they are thankful for, or the dish they grew up eating.
Make a drinks table
Tag the party BYOB, then add one pitcher of something warm or cold for everyone.
Plan for leftovers
Ask guests to bring a container. Everyone goes home with a plate, and your fridge stays manageable.
Keep a short waitlist
Plans change before a big weekend. A waitlist lets a friend who wanted a seat take the one that opens up.
If this group has a good time, make it a standing date. The dinner club guide shows how, and recurring events explains the one-link setup.
Questions hosts ask.
When should I host Friendsgiving in 2026?
There is no official date. Most people hold it the weekend before Thanksgiving, so it does not compete with family plans. Thanksgiving 2026 is Thursday, November 26, which makes that weekend November 21 and 22.
How do I run a Friendsgiving potluck so we don't end up with five desserts?
Add a "What are you bringing?" question to your RSVP with a drop-down like drinks, sides, salads and dessert. You see every guest's answer on the guest list, so you can spot a gap before the day.
How do I keep Friendsgiving to the chairs I have?
Set a seat limit when you create the event. When it is full, new guests join the waitlist. If someone cancels, the next guest is offered the seat by email, and by text if they've opted in. They have two hours to claim it. Close to party time, it's first come, first served.
Do my guests need an account to RSVP?
No. Only the host uses the app. Guests RSVP from a private link on any phone or computer.
